European vs. American Roulette Table
Whether we play at online or land-based casino, we will encounter 2 types of Roulette - an American roulette or a European roulette. Even though they might seem very similar to each other, one of those is clearly better for playing.
American vs. European Roulette
Both American and European (sometimes called French) Roulette have exactly the same rules and at first glance, there might not be any difference whatsoever. However, while the European roulette table only has one '0', its American counterpart contains one '0' and one '00'.
It's the Zeros on the roulette table that make the casino win over players and where the edge for them comes from. Zero does't count as red/black, odd/even or any other field. Even if we bet on the exact number and hit it, we only win 36 times our bet, even though there are 37 possible numbers (38 in case of American roulette).
It is clear, that when we have a choice, we should always play the European version of Roulette. It is better for our bankroll because the odge of the casino is not that severe. The house edge of European roulette is 2.70% whereas of the American one is 5.26%.
This is very important when applying roulette systems or just having some fun.
Different Sequence of Numbers
Another difference is the sequence of roulette table numbers on the wheels. This is especially important when you try to memorize the numbers.

When playing for fun, this really doesn't matter at all, so if you just want to visit a local casino and spend some money, you don't have to worry about which roulette you are playing.
When playing online, you will always have an option between American and European/French roulette. It is impossible to actually beat either in the long run, but having a better chance of coming out a winner is with the European roulette.
